I’m sitting in a hotel in Essen Germany. I should be getting ready to go to Iraq for Play for Progresses pilot program in Erbil. After keeping a close eye on the current events out there it became obvious that now wasn’t the time to go. Mosul is less than 60miles from Erbil and whilst Kurdistan is looking secure the situation is too fluid for us to take musicians out there at the moment. This is frustrating but we have already rescheduled our dates and fully intend to press ahead. Alyson Frazier and I attended the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Event on Tuesday and were delighted to meet The KRG’s representative to the UK- Bayan Rahman. It was a lovely were interesting evening and great to catch up with old friend Katarina Vojtoviocova.
Back to Essen where I have re joined the Working Out Of Town Tour. As soon as I discovered I might not be able to go to Iraq Rosie and Mike suggested I might want to travel with the tour to Germany. After a very fraught couple of days which included the worst flight customer service in the history of man, I was on a boat from Dover yesterday to Dunkirk. We drove through France, Belgium, Holland and arrived in Germany last night. On arrival we had the loveliest greeting when we arrived and Rosie played a blinder with the driving.
long story short? Germany not Iraq…… But soon. Very soon.
